Chartering in Greece

A Greek yacht charter blends the best of land and sea. By day, you can wander through whitewashed villages, swim in crystal-clear waters, or relax at a taverna along the harbor. By night, you’ll dine under the stars and anchor off islands that feel worlds away from the mainland. Greece offers an incredible mix of vibrant nightlife, quiet anchorages, and cultural exploration, all connected by scenic island-hopping passages.

When to Sail & When to Book

We recommend a minimum of 7 nights to experience the highlights of Greece’s island chains. With so many destinations to choose from, a week allows for a comfortable balance of cruising, exploring ashore, and enjoying life onboard your yacht. Longer charters (10–14 nights) let you dive deeper into the islands and experience multiple cruising regions.

When to Go

The best time for yacht charters in Greece is May through October.

  • High Season (July–August): Hot weather, buzzing nightlife, and peak crowds.

  • Shoulder Season (May–June & September–October): Milder temperatures, great sailing conditions, and fewer tourists.

Charter Pricing in Greece

Unlike the Caribbean, most Greek catamarans and motor yachts are booked on a plus expenses basis. In addition to the base charter fee, guests pay an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) typically 35–40% to cover food, beverages, fuel, dockage, and other costs. Greece also applies a VAT of 5–7% on the charter fee, depending on your itinerary.

Travel Logistics

  • Athens (ATH): The most common starting point, with easy access to the Cyclades or Saronic Gulf.

  • Mykonos & Santorini: Popular islands for guests flying in to join or leave the yacht mid-itinerary.

  • Corfu: Gateway to the Ionian Islands, with an international airport nearby.

Private transfers and domestic flights between islands are easily arranged to match your charter itinerary.

When to Book

If you’re planning to charter during July or August, it’s best to book 9–12 months in advance to secure the best yachts and itineraries.

For shoulder season charters in May, June, September, or October, you’ll still want to plan ahead, ideally 6–9 months in advance, as many of the most popular catamarans and motor yachts get reserved early.
