Briana grew up in Maine where she was introduced to sailing by her father. She spent her summers hiking, camping, sailing, and climbing trees. Briana attended Johnson & Wales university originally as a hospitality major but ended up graduating with a double major of business and finance. After college she excelled in a corporate career which introduced her to luxury international travel as well as humble local cultures. She became fascinated by how people live in other countries and in 2017 she left the US to travel full time. Over the past 6 years she’s traveled to more than 45 countries and has lived and worked/volunteered in several. She has a passion for adventure and learning new skills. Some of Briana’s favorite gigs were working as a kayak guide in Costa Rica, a rafting guide in the Italian alps, a ski instructor in Maine, and an English teacher in Bali. She fell in love with the ocean while in Thailand where she learned to scuba dive. Since being introduced to scuba it’s nearly impossible to keep her out of the water. She’s passionate about learning about different species and especially sharks. Her scuba and shark obsession is what eventually got her back into sailing as she joined a sailing expedition to explore and dive in the Tuamotus archipelago of French Polynesia. Since that voyage Briana has worked on or volunteered for several different sailing vessels and has become a strong and confident sailor.
Through her travels Briana has seen how food unites people and can be it’s own language. Briana has always enjoyed cooking for others and sitting down for a shared meal. She enjoys using fresh local ingredients to keep her menu bright, flavorful, and full of nutrients. She’s learned different techniques from Italian Nonna’s, Costa Rican Abuela’s and Thai women, all of which she incorporates into different dishes. Briana looks forward to sharing her food with you!
