Croatia Charter Itinerary

A yacht charter in Croatia is best enjoyed over at least 7 nights, giving you enough time to explore the chain of islands, historic towns, and quiet anchorages that make the Dalmatian Coast so special. Shorter trips don’t allow the chance to truly experience both the cultural highlights and the natural beauty this region is known for.

I recommend starting your journey in Split and ending in Dubrovnik (or the reverse), which allows for a one-way itinerary that maximizes your time on the water. This route blends charming old towns, vineyard-covered islands, and hidden coves—striking the perfect balance of sightseeing and relaxation.

day 1

embarkation

Split, Croatia

Nearest airport : SPU

Arrive in Split and board your yacht in the afternoon, where the crew will welcome you aboard and help you get settled. Spend some time ashore exploring Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site that feels like a city within a city. Stroll through the narrow marble streets lined with cafés, boutiques, and hidden courtyards, or climb the bell tower for panoramic views of Split and the coastline.

After sightseeing, return to your yacht for your first chef-prepared dinner on deck. Enjoy fresh local seafood, Croatian wines, and a beautiful view of Split’s waterfront as the sun sets.

Overnight at the marina or anchored just outside the city, ready to begin your voyage the next morning.

day 2

Split → Hvar

Distance from Split : 25 NM

Travel Time: 3hrs

Cruise south to Hvar, often called the “Ibiza of Croatia.” The harbor is lined with sleek yachts and buzzing waterfront cafés, and the town has long been famous for its nightlife. By day, explore the 16th-century fortress and enjoy a swim in the clear waters of the Pakleni Islands just off Hvar. In the evening, visit some of Hvar’s famous bars for a cocktail.

day 3

Hvar → Vis

Distance from Hvar: 15 NM

Travel time: under 2 hrs

Sail to the quieter island of Vis, with its charming town and hidden coves. Optional excursion to the Blue Cave on Biševo. Overnight in Vis.

day 4

Vis → Korčula

Distance from Vis: 55 NM

Travel Time: 6 hours

Longer passage to Korčula, with time to explore its medieval walled town, sample local wines, and enjoy fresh seafood for dinner. Visit La Banya Beach Club for a relaxing afternoon on the shallow shore.

day 5

Korčula → Mljet

Distance from Korcula: 25 NM

Travel time: under 3hrs

Sail to Mljet, one of the greenest and most tranquil islands in Croatia. Much of the island is a designated National Park, home to two saltwater lakes where you can kayak, swim, or visit the 12th-century monastery on St. Mary’s Islet.

For the adventurous, a highlight here is the Odysseus Cave, a stunning sea grotto named after the legend that Odysseus was shipwrecked on Mljet and captivated by its beauty. The cave can be reached by tender, land taxi or water taxi, and once inside you can swim in the dazzling turquoise water as sunlight filters through the opening.

Spend the evening anchored in one of Mljet’s peaceful bays, enjoying dinner on deck under the stars.

day 6

Mljet → Elafiti Islands

Distance from Mljet: 30 NM

Travel time: 3 hrs

Cruise to the Elafiti Islands, a small group of lush, sun-soaked islands just northwest of Dubrovnik.

This is the ideal stop to make the most of your yacht’s water toys. Spend the day paddleboarding along the coastline, snorkeling in secluded coves, or zipping around on jet skis and seabobs if your yacht carries them. For a slower pace, take the tender ashore to wander through olive groves and tiny stone villages, then head back to the yacht for a long afternoon of sunbathing and swimming right off the stern.

As the sun sets, you’ll enjoy a quiet evening at anchor, savoring a chef-prepared dinner surrounded by the peaceful beauty of these islands.

day 7

Elafiti Islands → Dubrovnik

Distance from Elafiti Islands: 10 NM

Travel time: 1 hr

Arrive in Dubrovnik, “the Pearl of the Adriatic.” Spend the afternoon walking the city walls, exploring Old Town, or riding the cable car to Mount Srđ. Overnight in port, with your choice of a final dinner ashore or onboard.

day 8

DEBARKATION

Dubrovnik

Wake up to a final breakfast onboard while taking in the views of Dubrovnik’s harbor. After saying goodbye to your crew, you’ll disembark and continue your journey on land. If time allows, you may want to take one last stroll through the Old Town for a bit of shopping or sightseeing before departing.

Dubrovnik is well connected, with Dubrovnik International Airport (DBV) located about 30 minutes by car from the marina. Private transfers or taxis can be arranged in advance to ensure a smooth departure. For those extending their trip, Dubrovnik also offers a range of luxury hotels and historic stays just minutes from the port.
